Our partner is a well reputed software development center, part of one of the world’s largest banking groups. The hub is well established in the market – it operates across various programs, delivering technology products which support the banking verticals.

The Application Support Engineer role will operate within the Control Room platform, a business critical program meant to identify and properly manage Proce Sensitive Information - manage conflicts, research clearance, watch/restricted list management, information barrier maintenance.

The Control Room system sends information downstream to allow other key control activities to function correctly - employee trading, surveillance, restricted list management, MI reporting. 

As a Java Application Support Engineer, you’ll ensure code and design integrity of the hot fixes or patches applied. 

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Provide level 3 support for technical infvrastructure components (databases, middleware and user interfaces).

• Perform problem and root cause analysis for application production incidents and deliver the necessary resolution pack (hot fixes, patches).

• Support and contribute to all relevant documentation.

• Conduct incident and problem management activities with IT Product Managers, infrastructure groups, problem and incident managers to track progress and highlight issues.

• The tech stack you'll use is: Java (JDK 1.8), Oracle (12C), SQL/PLSQL, Spring, Hibernate, Javascript, Maven, SOAP and REST Web services, Tomcat, OpenShift - you'll have an opportunity to cover gaps on any of these technologies, allowing to grow towards other roles, if you'll wish to. 

To thrive in this role, you’ll have:

• Some initial support experience (ideally Application support -  production).

• Good basis of Java, Oracle, SQL/PLSQL - ideally, you have used these in a work setup, or at least for pet projects. What you need is the ability to read code and perform root cause analysis.

• Basic knowledge of security principles.

• Ability to analyze business requirements, defects and propose hot fixes.

• Comfortable operating across multiple global locations, cultures and practices.

• Advanced level of English.
