Senior Java Engineer

We have an opportunity for a Senior Java Microservices Developer to contribute to the development of a large-scale cloud-native microservices platform in the Mobility and digital payments space.


The employer is a global digital services and payments organization, active across employee benefits, fleet and mobility solutions, and corporate payment services. 


The Group connects more than 60 million users, over 1 million corporate clients and more than 2 million partner merchants across 44 countries, generating 3 billion EUR in revenues in 2025. 


The product is part of the Mobility business line and supports fleet-related payment and service flows across Europe. It connects drivers, fleet managers and merchants through a platform covering fuel payments, tolls, parking, service and maintenance, as well as newer electric vehicle-related services.


The platform has an accelerated roadmap for the coming years, with new squads being created as the scope of the platform continues to grow.


As a Senior Java Microservices Developer, you will be part of an engineering squad working on the future core transactional platform for Mobility services. The role is hands-on and focused on designing, developing and improving Java microservices and API-based applications within a scalable, cloud-native architecture.


You will work closely with Software Architects, Product Owners, infrastructure specialists and other engineering teams to build reliable, maintainable and well-structured services that support high-volume payment and mobility use cases across Europe.




Your main responsibilities will revolve around the following:


  • Develop new Java microservices and API-based applications for a strategic Mobility transactional platform.


  • Design and improve existing systems and services within a scalable microservices architecture.


  • Build backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs and related technologies.


  • Contribute to technical concepts, design decisions and proof-of-concept work for new services.


  • Write clean, maintainable and testable code aligned with engineering standards.


  • Produce and maintain project-related technical documentation.


  • Support the modernization of legacy flows while contributing to new platform capabilities.


  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, planning sessions and cross-team alignment when needed.



The tech stack used by the team includes:
Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, JUnit, JPA/Hibernate, SQL, REST APIs, Git, Maven, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, JIRA, YAML, microservices and API-based architectures.





This role is for you if you have:


  • A university degree in Computer Science or a comparable technical background.


  • At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.Strong hands-on experience with Java and the Spring ecosystem.


  • Experience designing or developing microservices-based systems.


  • Ability to work on complex technical topics and understand distributed systems constraints.


  • A quality-oriented engineering mindset, with attention to maintainability, testing and documentation.


  • A collaborative working style and the ability to interact with architecture, infrastructure and product stakeholders.


  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
