Infrastructure Engineer (Azure)


We have an opportunity for an Infrastructure Engineer who will join the global IT operations team of a top tier fintech (international payments and foreign exchange). 


The role's purpose is to cover global cloud or on-premise infrastructure support activities (L2/L3) and special projects.


The company is setting up a brand new technical shared services center in Bucharest to run infrastructure, application support and platform management for the group's technical ecosystem, adding to the already existing hubs in the US and UK. 


You'll join the starting team in Romania that is tasked to define and run operational flows, knowledge transfer, documentation and technical activities.


The infrastructure is currently being migrated to cloud (Azure). The stack is primarily built on Microsoft infrastructure (Windows, Azure, MS SQL Server, Office 365, etc) but there can be a wider technical scope based on the project (application support, deployments, IaaS, PaaS, etc).


Primary responsibilities for this role will be split between operational tasks, maintaining service health and reliability, proactively investigating and resolving capacity and stability of the platform.



Your main responsibilities will revolve around the following:


  • Act as an IT technical resource for business projects and technical changes, contributing to solution design and support documents as a part of the project rollout and transition to production;


  • Support other IT regional / global teams (DBA, network, DevOps, Infosec) in any infrastructure requests;


  • Administer, maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot various third party applications;


  • Liaise with 3rd party vendors when required for successful operation of 3rd party software and cloud based services;


  • Reviewing platform monitoring, responding to alerting, platform health checks;


  • Investigate and collaborate on business critical incidents and perform root causes analysis with the wider IT teams;


  • Escalation and troubleshooting of infrastructure specific incidents from the company's IT Service Desk.



This role is for you if you have:



  • Good technical background in operating Windows servers. Linux knowledge is also nice to have.


  • Ideally, you're comfortable with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS);


  • Good knowledge of PowerShell;


  • System architecture design including backup/disaster recovery are nice to have;


  • Customer orientation and business acumen, with a problem solving mindset;


  • Fluent in English.




Why you should consider this role?


  • The work is hybrid, with 1-2 days per week from the office (located 5 min to Piata Victoriei metro station);


  • Program is 8-17 Mon-Fri;


  • You'll also be part of a paid rotational on-call (one week per month), but the number of calls is very low (there are already 3 teams covering all timezones 24x7).
