Our client operates a large engineering competence centre in Romania, delivering critical solutions across transportation, security, defence, aeronautics and space. 

We’re hiring an experienced Database Engineer to design, maintain and optimize complex database environments in a hybrid infrastructure.

You’ll translate business requirements into technical solutions, lead migrations and upgrades, manage incidents, and drive automation to improve reliability and performance.

You will contribute to standards compliance, keep procedures and documentation current, and ensure production systems meet demanding availability and security requirements.

Key responsibilities:

• Translate business requirements into database designs with support from architects.

• Install, configure, patch and upgrade databases: Oracle (main), SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL.

• Manage and track incidents and requests using ticketing tools.

• Contribute to migration and performance optimization of production systems.

• Ensure compliance with standards, policies and audits.

• Automate deployments and repetitive DBA tasks; contribute to DevOps practices.

• Support web-oriented application servers (Apache, IIS, Nginx, Tomcat, JBoss, Weblogic, HAProxy).

• Update procedures, documentation and supervision guides.

• Provide technical expertise and knowledge sharing across teams.

To thrive in this role, you will:

• Bring senior expertise in database administration.

• Have some knowledge of MongoDB and Elasticsearch.

• Understand database architecture, backup/restore, workload estimation and optimization.

• Hold 5+ years’ experience in production system management.

• Be familiar with Linux and Windows OS, virtualization (Docker, VMware), and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls).

• Operate confidently with ITIL processes and Agile methodology.

• Communicate fluently in English; French is an advantage.
