Our client operates a high-security private cloud engineering hub supporting defense-grade programs in a NATO context. The team designs and maintains PaaS services (databases, middleware, SharePoint) on top of on-prem infrastructure, ensuring availability, compliance, and secure operations across European stakeholders.

We’re hiring an experienced L3 PaaS Engineer (DBA) to lead database and platform operations in a private cloud environment. 

You’ll own escalated incidents, design resilient database architectures, coach L1/L2 admins, and drive operational excellence through ITIL practices.

You will contribute to change governance (CAB), keep SOPs and the knowledge base current, manage testbeds for patch validation, and ensure compliance and audit readiness in a highly secure setup.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide Level-3 support across SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL platforms – handle escalations, analyze failures, and drive permanent fixes.

• Configure and maintain advanced DBA features (clusters, replication, disaster recovery plans, backup & recovery).
  

• Support SharePoint architecture and middleware services, ensuring reliable search, profiles, and metadata.

• Implement and test security patches, manage certificates and encryption keys. 

• Contribute to CAB processes, validate deployment procedures, and align with security/compliance standards.

• Coach and mentor L1/L2 admins, enforce quality standards on ticket resolution and documentation. 

• Update SOPs, deployment guides, and knowledge base articles; maintain lab/testbed environments.

To thrive in this role, you will:

• Bring senior expertise in PaaS/DBA operations, especially MS SQL Server (clusters, DRP, permissions, backup/recovery).

• Have intermediate knowledge of Oracle and basic skills in MySQL.

• Understand infrastructure fundamentals: Active Directory (Kerberos/NTLM/SPN), IP/DNS, firewalls, VMware basics.
  

• Be proficient in PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
  

• Operate confidently within ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management at intermediate level).
  

• Communicate clearly in English; collaborate effectively with international teams in France and Belgium, and travel between sites when needed.
  

• Hold (or be eligible for) Romanian and NATO security clearance; background checks apply.
  

• ITIL v4 Foundation certification is expected; additional DBA/security certifications are a plus.
