

Global Category Manager - Travel
Our partner is a well-established technology & operations center in Bucharest, part of one of the world’s leading financial groups, supporting global business functions across Europe and beyond.
This role sits within the Global Procurement organization and focuses on the Travel category, covering international air, hotel, and ground transportation services. The team manages end-to-end strategic sourcing and category management activities for a complex, global travel program.
The position plays a key role in optimizing global travel spend, supplier performance, traveler experience, and duty of care, working in close partnership with the Travel Management team that runs day-to-day operations.This is a senior, hands-on role, suited for someone comfortable operating in an international, stakeholder-heavy environment and driving tangible commercial impact.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for global travel categories (air, hotel, ground transportation);
Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements with airlines, hotels, travel agencies, and other suppliers;
Manage and develop supplier relationships to ensure cost efficiency, service quality, and compliance;
Analyze travel spend and performance data to identify optimization and cost-saving opportunities;
Collaborate closely with the Travel Management team to align sourcing strategies with business needs;
Support the development and evolution of global travel policies;
Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards, including duty of care and sustainability objectives;
Work with internal product and technology teams on travel management systems (e.g. SAP Concur, Amadeus) to streamline processes and drive improvements;
Prepare reports and dashboards covering KPIs, supplier performance, and spend patterns;
Engage with senior stakeholders across regions to align priorities and drive adoption of travel strategies.
To thrive in this role, you’ll have:
7+ years of experience in corporate travel procurement or category management;
Strong knowledge of international air, hotel, ground transportation, and travel agency markets;
Proven experience negotiating complex contracts and managing global suppliers;
Exposure to travel management platforms and data analytics tools;
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills;
Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
Relevant certifications (e.g. GBTA, CTP) are an advantage.
