Our client is Hootsuite, Canadian company that has built the world's leading social media management platform, used by millions of marketing professionals across the board.

The Hootsuite platform allows seamless integration of a company's social media accounts - from campaign planning across multiple networks, to scheduling, content curation and measuring ROI. 

As a Backend Engineer, you'll be part of a special team that builds tooling & automations to enable and power up the product developer teams in the Analytics module.

You'll work with a modern range of technologies and will be able to research and develop POCs to explore ways of further improving productivity. 

Tech stack:

• You'll be working with: Kubernetes, Golang, Python, MongoDB, GRPC, Brigade, ElasticSearch, Kafka, AWS, Docker, etc.

You don't need a track record of using Golang. 

You may have worked with Java, Scala, PHP or Typescript in the past. 

If you're language agnostic, have worked with containers before, have strong problem solving and system design skills, you'll adapt and become a valuable member of the team.

Your role:

• You will design, build, test and ship quality software that delivers value to customers. Together with your team, you will own the entire delivery lifecycle from beta releases to production ready for a number of features and projects;

• Help shape the technical roadmap as current services are being scaled up and new products are being built;

• Drive improvements to the company's standards of security, reliability, performance and quality;

• Run code reviews and apply software development best practices;

• You'll enhance Hootsuite's company's and environment, striving to build a better way through improved tooling, streamlining processes and working across product boundaries;

Is this for you? Here's how you'll know it:

• You have a long standing software development experience, with a demonstrated increase in responsibility, ideally in large-scale projects where you've taken responsibility at least for a sub-set of functionalities;

• You are proficient in at least one programming language, ideally Python, Golang, Typescript or Java/Scala and working with containers (Docker/Kubernetes) and have a desire to learn other languages;

• You have extensive software design experience: you think in terms of architecture; you know how to identify and explain pros and cons of a technical solution and how it might fit your project; you deliver reliable software through the principles of observability.

• You foster best practices in everything you do: writing thoroughly-tested code, performing accurate and constructive code reviews, coaching peers. Having been a speaker at technical conferences is a plus.

• You have strong Problem Solving skills - you use an organized and logical approach to find solutions to complex problems and look beyond the obvious to understand the root cause of problems to propose several possible solutions.

• You have strong communication skills, working with people at all levels and clearly articulating your thoughts;

• Fluent in English.
