DevOps Engineer

Our client is a fast growing European company operating in the digital advertising industry and holding its Technology Hub (R&D center) in Bucharest (Piata Romana). This is not outsourcing, employment is directly with our client.

The company uses algorithmic development, Big Data and Machine learning technologies to broadcast ads into the online feed of millions of readers across a number of media platforms. This creates an ecosystem where integrations, big data and performance are key.

We’re looking for a sharp-minded and creative DevOps Engineer to automate deployments of a web product with millions of active users (>100M) and large data warehouses (>2.5M daily active pages generating more than 80GB of raw data).

What's in it for you?

You'll build the CI/CD flows.

You'll focus on automating alignment of environments.

You'll set up the flow and toolchain for an improved continuous deployment process that scales.

You'll work alongside development teams and have an early input in the design of solutions, so these integrate non-functional elements (ex. bandwidth / FTPs). You'll enjoy plenty of room for fresh ideas and experimentation.

While monitoring is secured by the support and the system engineering teams, you'll own the flow and logic of the data as it goes into production.

Technical environment: Mix of Cloud (Azure 20%) and On prem. 70% Windows - 30% Linux. Slowly increase the Linux infra, reversing % and reach 70% Linux. Currently a mix of Git + Jenkins + Ansible, transitioning to Gitlab. The app is written in .Net Framework & .Net Core, with MS SQL Server | PostgreSQL | Cassandra databases. Hadoop and other big data technologies are being implemented.

To perform well in the role:

You're a builder who focuses on finding best solutions for the problems at hand. You're autonomous and resourceful.

Experience building CI/CD pipelines, ideally for a data rich web product.

Knowledge of Gitlab is highly appreciated, as you'll have to set it up and use it. (not mandatory)

Windows, Linux, Azure.

Solid Bash, Powershell, Python scripting skills. Ideally, you can also read C# code to understand dependencies (this is not mandatory).

Solid knowledge of data engineering and moving data to production - security, data access, logs, current and upcoming integrations for data enrichment.
