Backend Engineer: Remote Romania

You have the chance to work with the European fastest growing travel software platform that has teams in Germany and Romania. The company has successfully raised a couple of investment rounds before being acquired by one of the biggest automotive groups in the world.

​

We are looking for a Remote Backend Engineer to work on product features and technical stability. You will enjoy combining software best practices with digging deep, investigating problems and state-of-the-art technologies.

​

Your key responsibilities will be to:

​

  • Iteratively work on clear priorities, influence the product roadmap by your technical know-how 

​

  • Develop and influence the final behavior and business process flows of the products together with the product team.​​

​

  • Share best practices of backend engineering and architecture in a growing team.

​

  • Collaborate on a daily basis with a small, nimble team of product managers, engineers, and UX designers to understand business requirements, user experience goals and pain points.

​

To thrive in this role, you’ll need to be:

​

  • Proficient in Spring and Java environments and related technology stacks

​

  • Quite experienced in relational databases (SQL / Oracle / MySQL)

​

  • Knowing your way around DevOps topics like implementation, deployment, architecture and IT operations, with at least two out of the following: CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS

​

  • Knowledgeable in at least least two out of the following: Elasticsearch, message brokers (RabbitMQ / Kafka / Redis), distributed caches (Redis / Hazelcast), event-driven architectures (using Spring Cloud: Stream / DataFlow / Batch)

​

  • Comfortable with pushing for good test coverage and product agility at the same time

​

  • Familiar with agile processes, motivated to pick out the most valuable user stories and the leanest solutions

​

  • Familiar with integration and unit testing

​

  • Collaborative as you will work with most teams involved in the product business processes, including other engineering teams and all of their source code

​

  • Opinionated, eager to experiment and propose your ideas; Independent and self-disciplined.

​
